The house is on the edge of the peaceful village of Trensacq. In the morning you can walk to buy your baguettes at the village shop. There is a tennis court within a short walk. The village is situated in the heart of the huge 650,000 acre Parc Regional des Landes, mostly given over to pine forest traversed by the river Eyre. Canoes can be hired locally to explore the river and bicycles to enjoy the various cycle routes in the park. The nearest beach, Mimizan plage, is about 56 km away and that and the lovely Lac de Biscarrosse have proved popular with previous guests at this house. The roads are good and it should take only 45 minutes to drive to the coast. Shops and restaurants are at the villages of Pissos and Labouhayre, 11km and 15km respectively.
DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATION
The house is of the kind of half timbered construction typical of the Landes. You enter into the living room with TV, DVD and CD player, and comfortable seating in front of an open fire. A feature of the room is the large modern window, overlooking the garden, viewed through the original vertical timbers. At one end of the room is a dining table opposite a doorway to the kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave plus cooker. Beyond the living room is an entrance hall, off which is a utility room with a washing machine. Also off the entrance hall is a separate WC and a double bedroom with its own shower and washbasin.
Stairs rise from the living room to the first floor where there are three more bedrooms: one with a double bed and the other two with two single beds each. Each of these bedrooms has its own small shower room and washbasin. There is a separate WC at the end of the landing. The house has electric heating and a telephone.
Outside is open grassy space and a 10m x 5m swimming pool with safety fence, plus an open barn with a ping-pong table.
