The house is situated in a fine, elevated position in the village of Caillac, with views of the Lot valley, which can be glimpsed over the tops of the trees. The village has a fishing lake and a bar/restaurant just 1 min walk from the house. There is a grocery shop at Espère a few kilometres away; the riverside villages of Douelle and Lusech also provide shops, cafés and restaurants and are pick-up points for boats that cruise up and down the river. The attractive old market town of Cahors, with its excellent restaurants and wonderful, twice weekly market, is about 10km up the river. From the house you can explore the vineyards on the southern banks of the river, the green Bouriane to the North, and the Quercy Blanc to the south.
DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATION
This is a light and well decorated house. The ground floor has an open-plan feel to it. At one end there is a modern fitted kitchen equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer, a microwave as well as ordinary oven, and two small armchairs in front of the fireplace. Open plan to the kitchen is the dining area with table and chairs and an archway separating it from the sitting room. Here there is a sofa and armchair arranged around a coffee table in front of a satellite TV with VHS and DVD; off the room is a separate WC.
French windows open to the garden and the pool. Stairs rise to the first floor where there are two bedrooms either side of a landing which is furnished with a single bed. One of the bedrooms has a double bed and its own bathroom/WC. The other has two single beds, a TV and CD player and its own shower room/WC. Outside is a nice garden, not big, with views of the valley. A terrace runs around two sides of the house, besides which there is an 8m x 4m swimming pool. The house has a telephone and wall-mounted electric radiators. NB: The pool terrace is 3 to 4 metres above ground; it has a low wall surround, so young children should be watched.
